"...that the Parliament commends Renfrewshire Council and The Friends of Fountain Gardens on their efforts to restore Paisley’s oldest public park, inaugurated in 1868; recognises the park's amenities, including the eponymous fountain, which ...has historic significance and a Grade A listing, as well as, reputedly, the best statue of Robert Burns in the world, and welcomes the move by the council to use funding from a trust founded by the park's former Victorian owners to kick-start the process of raising funds from other sources including Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund to complete the park's renovation."
George Adam MSP, Paisley, 1st November 2011.
The Friends of the Fountain gardens are looking to bring investment into the Gardens to help restore them to their prime. Renfrewshire Council has an application with Heritage Lottery Fund looking for significant investment. Already almost £20,000 from defunt funds are being allocated to the Fountain Gardens.
